Hop from wash house to wash house in the wonderful destination of Chelva. You’re going to love the atmosphere and heritage sites here.

Lavaderos públicos, the public wash houses in Chelva, in Los Serranos in the province of Valencia, are outdoor sites that serve as a reminder of what life was like here decades ago. Taking advantage of the water flowing through the municipality, public wash houses were built with sinks and roofs so that they could be used at any time of the year.

Public wash houses were traditionally a place where the locals would gather daily. Chelva still has seven wash houses, all in good condition: El Górgol, El Baño, La Balsa, El Arrabal, La Peirería, El Querefil and El Embarany. We’d recommend taking a tour of the public wash houses in Chelva, which is a great way to learn about the history of the destination renowned for the beautiful Water Walk.

During your time in Chelva, make sure you also visit Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles Archpriest Church and wander the streets of the historic centre. You’re going to love your getaway to the Valencian mountains.
