Located in La Vall d’Albaida in inland province of Valencia, Rugat is a small village that is high on charm. A great place for soaking up the peaceful atmosphere of the natural world, the destination is lined with traditional façades that are set against the backdrop of Sierra de Benicadell, making it a great place to photograph. What to see in Rugat 

To start your explorations of Rugat’s centre, make your way to Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish Church. A 19th-century place of worship, it houses beautiful altarpieces and works of religious art. The sunny and peaceful atmosphere emanating from the streets in Rugat will soon win your heart: this is a quintessentially small and traditional village centre. 

Just 5 minutes outside the centre of Rugat is L’Horta Recreational Area, an al fresco space equipped with everything you’ll need for a day out in the fresh air: barbecues, playgrounds and more. Another park close to the destination is La Costereta Park. 

A little further away, about a quarter of an hour’s walk from Rugat, is Les Fonts Recreational Area. This leafy and cool space has children’s play areas and a soundtrack of running water courtesy of the fountains. You’re sure to love spending some time here. If you fancy, you can extend your walk to Toll del Datiler, a wonderful waterfall where you can sit down and relax in the midst of a beautiful setting. 

Hikers will love roaming around Rugat and the local scenery. There are trails that will lead you to Aielo de Rugat and Castelló de Rugat, which are just a half hour’s walk away, giving you the opportunity to visit three municipalities at the same time.
