Peñíscola: what to see in one day

On your approach to Peñíscola in the province of Castellón, you will be treated to views of the magnificent Palace Castle that looks like it’s floating on the water. Inside this imposing walled fortress you can explore the town’s Artistic Historical Centre

One of the best things to see in one day in Peñíscola is inside the castle so find out the visiting hours and start your explorations here. Dating to the times of the Knights Templar, the castle was once the residence of the enigmatic Papa Luna. Wander around the stables, the bailey, the church and many rooms that are in a perfect condition.

Afterwards, spend as much time as you please strolling around the winding streets of the historic centre. You’ll find yourself enveloped in plenty of whitewashed façades steeped in tradition.

Take incredible photos from the viewing points and the incredible lighthouse. By this point, you will have noticed that one day to see Peñíscola is not enough. We’d recommend extending your stay to explore the areas surrounding the destination.

What to see in Peñíscola in two days

One day in Peñíscola is well worth your while, but a second day enables you to delve a little deeper. We recommend exploring the areas around the town, visiting the watchtowers known as Nova Tower and Badum Tower. Both are located within Sierra de Irta Natural Park, a beautiful landscape full of pathways, steep peaks, cliffs and hidden coves

To complete your list of things to see in Peñíscola in one day, or perhaps two, we suggest taking a gentle stroll along the wonderful Norte beach or enjoying some water sports on Sur beach. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to start planning your getaway.
