Located in La Vega Baja in the province of Alicante, Almoradí is a slice of peace and quiet bathed in beautiful light that makes its abundant huerta – agricultural land – even more picturesque. Come and explore all of the town’s cultural and natural heritage and get ready to fall in love with the Region of Valencia.

What to do in Almoradí

Almoradí has got a free cultural route which will give you the opportunity to wander through its peaceful and typical streets. At the stops, you will discover institutions like the Water Tribunal and sights like San Andrés Parish Church, which dates back from the 19th century.

The Casino, which is also from the 19th century, has borne witness to a large part of Almoradí’s social and cultural life. It is almost as old as the Hospital, which started to be planned in 1929 and next to which there is a small restored chapel that is currently used for cultural activities such as Cortés Theatre.

In the outskirts of Almoradí, we’d recommend making your way to Azud de Alfeitamí, a water infrastructure dating to the late 16th century and the Chimney of the Old Ceramics Factory. A wonderful way to explore Almoradí’s history and surroundings is to walk Ruta del Agua, which will lead you to various points of interest connected to the huerta and the local water heritage, such as the old bridge, irrigation canals, irrigation ditches and viewing points over the agricultural land. It also passes through the town centre.

In terms of natural heritage, visiting the river Segura is an absolute must as are the small natural spaces created along the riverbed, known as sotos, where river vegetation has been reclaimed. The huerta itself is calling out to be explored on foot or on two wheels so you can breathe in incredible views. And don’t forget about the hiking trail that leads to Hoyo Serrano.

Make sure you don’t leave Almoradí without trying the delicious local artichokes. Come and get lost among the fields in this part of the province of Alicante.
