During your time in Segorbe, make sure you look out for the medieval town walls.

Sitting atop Sopeña Hill in Segorbe are the ruins of La Estrella Castle. What you can see today dates to the last reconstruction, which was in the 19th century. This is the perfect place to take a walk. The pine trees that now grow here provide welcome shade from the sun and the area affords beautiful views.

In the past, Segorbe was a walled town with an impressive Castle. The fortress was dismantled so that the stone could be used to build the cathedral and the old hospital. Today you can see what has withstood the passing of time and explore 1km of medieval walls that start at the Castle and continue in the direction of the historic centre.

The walls that are still standing are part of a section dating from the 14th century. These are located on Argén street. Here you will see an alfiz that holds the arches of El Argén gate, which was the old gate into the town and dates to the 11th century.

The rest of the walls used to run along Colón street, La Cueva Santa square, Tirador street, Las Almas square and to the Castle. Take a walk through Segorbe in the province of Castellón and discover through the remains of the walls and castle the history of a municipality that was once home to dukes, warriors and Moorish kings. Come for a visit and throw yourself into the local heritage: you’re going to love it.
