Castillo Palacio Señorial de Llutxent, the stately Castle-Palace in Llutxent is a magnificent 14th-century landmark that is a must-visit when exploring this pretty village.

Conveniently located in the heart of Llutxent’s historic centre, this castle is a prime example of Valencian Gothic architecture. Built in a rectangular layout, it’s topped by four imposing towers, one at each corner, and centred around an inner courtyard. Originally designed as a fortress, the castle’s rammed-earth walls are punctuated by gun holes, hinting at its defensive function, which gradually diminished between the 14th and 15th centuries.

Over time, the castle-palace was transformed into a stately residence, leading to the addition of decorative features such as ashlar stone doorways, double windows, and painted friezes. In the 15th century, further embellishments were introduced, including plaster details, brick arches and a grand staircase. Be sure to visit the southwest tower, where several original elements from the building’s early phase can still be seen. Are you up for uncovering the many secrets this town in the county of La Vall d’Albaida is home to?
