Located in Albufera natural park, El Rey beach in Mareny de Barraquetes is the perfect place to take a quiet dip away from the crowds.

Enveloped by Albufera natural park, Mareny de Barraquetes is a minor local entity that is part of the municipality of Sueca. The destination has a beach, El Rey, whose soft sands extend for 900m along the coast. It’s one of a handful of beaches that have a dune cordon.

Flanking El Rey beach, the seafront promenade is an ideal place to take a stroll and gaze at views over the coast. In the summer months, the area comes to life with a street market every Sunday afternoon. You will probably also see people collecting clams, mussels and barnacles along the coast.

The semi-urban beach has lifeguard equipment as well as a children’s playpark, sports area and surfing zone. 8km away there is El Perelló sailing club.

The beach is easy to get to. You can either walk or drive from Mareny de Barraquetes following the signs. The closest road is the CV-50 and there’s a carpark (unsupervised) and a bus that will drop you off close to the beach.

The beach is accessible for people with disabilities and it has recently become a popular spot among windsurfers. The strong gusts of wind in the summer make El Rey the perfect place to enjoy the sport. During your time here, you might even see groups of windsurfers out having fun on the waters.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, clean and accessible stretch of the coastline, Mareny de Barraquetes is a great choice. So start planning a day out with your friends and family today.
