Ermita de la Magdalena, La Magdalena Chapel in Moncofa, located in La Plana Baixa in the province of Castellón, sits in the destination’s seaside district, known as Grao. It has a long tradition of worship for seafarers. Boasting a beautiful location by the sea, the 18th century chapel perches atop an Arabic ribat, a structure used for both military and religious purposes.

Every year on the 23 June, the wooden sculpture of the saint is carried to the beach, commemorating the moment it arrived on the coast some 600 years ago. We’d recommend putting the date of the festivity in your diary.
