Vinos Mas de Rander
Benlloc is perhaps best known for its music festivals, gently rolling hills, almond groves and traditional sweets and desserts. But it’s also home to Vinos Mas de Rander, a winery that opens its doors to visitors so you can throw yourself into the world of wine and breathe in the most spectacular landscapes.
The winery is housed in a modern, sustainable building that blends seamlessly with the surrounding scenery. Part of Mas de Rander is nestled in the hills, creating an underground space that helps keep temperatures stable throughout the year, which is beneficial for the wine.
Though situated in inland province of Castellón, the Mas de Rander vines are still reached by the sea breeze, giving them a unique character and flavour profile. The estate grows a number of varieties, including Syrah, Merlot, Monastrell, Moscateles de Alejandría and more. Once harvested, the grapes do not need to travel far, meaning that the integrity of the fruit is maintained when it enters the winery.
Mas de Rander runs guided tours of its premises. During these experiences, you will take a wander through the vines, and perhaps be asked to perform a small task while you’re there, before making your way to the winery where you will learn - step by step - how the delicious wines are made. But the best is yet to come with a tasting session featuring a number of wines plus some nibbles. If you like, you can choose a premium experience in which you’ll taste even more wines or you can change focus altogether and try some delicious local olive oils that are bursting with aromas and nuances. The local area is home to some centennial olive trees that produce oils of exceptional quality.
If you’re keen to learn more about wine, Mas de Rander can also put together a made-to-measure course so you can start to acquire knowledge about this most exquisite of products. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your escape to the vines today.
