The Region of Valencia invites you to enjoy the sunny life

The sunny life has returned to the Region of Valencia.

The terraces are full of people drinking their morning coffee, the beaches are peaceful places to relax, the mountains are sanctuaries for the soul.

Our characteristic sunny days and spirits are out in full force. We hope you can come and enjoy some winter sun with us soon.

01.

Benidorm: the good life

Arguably the Region of Valencia’s best-known destination, Benidorm is a treat

Soaring skyscrapers rub shoulders with long, sandy beaches and rugged little coves. Here you can dip into the calm waters, even in the depths of winter, thanks to the microclimate which makes it warm and sunny all year round

Rent out a bike to enjoy pedalling around in the sunshine, breathe in sea views from Balcón del Mediterráneo and, of course, enjoy the nightlife. Lively bars, tasty restaurants and unbeatable shows are waiting for you to come and take your seat.

02.

Altea: for lovers of the Mediterranean

There’s nothing quite like breathing in the sea air to make you feel alive.

Altea is a picture-perfect coastal town sitting on a beautiful stretch of the Costa Blanca. The town has 6 km of pebbly coves and beaches for you to enjoy however you please - ambling along the shore, watching the gently lapping waves, reading a book in the sun, paddling in the clear waters.

Beyond the beautiful coastline, there’s a seafront promenade lined with restaurants where you can dine with a sea view, the old town with its characteristic whitewashed houses and the picturesque fishing port. What do you say?

València city: where new meets old

A city of paradoxes, València is populated with historic churches, towers and gates as well as the most futuristic architecture, all of which you can visit as you wander around in the sun.

The historic centre is a delight with its pretty winding streets, bustling plazas, and museums and galleries. The 9-km park spanning the entire breadth of the city will lead you to the City of Arts and Sciences where you can marvel at the immense sparkling white buildings.

When you’re weary, sit down at a great restaurant to enjoy some local dishes - on an al fresco terrace, of course.

04.

The Costa Blanca: 5 days by the sea

The reputation of this sun-kissed stretch of coastline precedes it, and with good reason.

The Costa Blanca won’t disappoint if you’re keen to visit more than one destination on your winter getaway. Explore bustling coastal towns like Dénia, Jávea, Calp, Teulada/Moraira and more. Look out to sea and marvel at the clear Mediterranean waters with the sunlight reflecting on them.

Enjoy scenic spots like Peñón de Ifach, salt pans, wild swimming spots, century-old castles and fishing ports. And dig into the local cuisine, savouring the prawns in Dénia and the nougat in Jijona, the perfect Christmas treat.

05.

Villajoyosa: a sparkling gem on the coast

Colourful houses line the beachfront of this delightful seaside destination

Villajoyos has a long seafaring tradition which you can enjoy all year round. Watch the boats gently bob about in the port, wander along the pretty seafront promenade and while away the hours gazing at the sea on the sandy beach

The old town is a picturesque place with its narrow streets, brightly painted façades and Gothic church. However far you stray, you’ll feel the sea air working its magic.

The Costa Azahar: a slice of authentic Castellón

If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten track destination, the Costa Azahar is it.

Located in the province of Castellón, this part of the coastline promises plenty to discover. Head to Benicasim to enjoy the beach and marvel at Belle Époque villas where raucous parties once took place. Visit Alcalà de Xivert/Alcossebre to do some hiking in Sierra de Irta and see an impressive Templar Castle.

Be taken aback by the fortress jutting out into the sea in Peñíscola and enjoy the artichokes in Benicarló and the langoustines in Vinaròs. The perfect antidote to winter.

07.

A walker’s paradise

One of the Region of Valencia’s best kept secrets is that it is a superb hiking destination

Throughout our three provinces (Castellón, Valencia and Alicante), there are tracks and trails for all sorts of walkers. Experienced hikers will be delighted to scramble up the mountains inhabiting spectacular natural parks while ramblers will enjoy exploring magical Mediterranean woodland, wetlands, Vías Verdes and coastal paths.

Now is the perfect time of year for hiking: the days are warm but not too hot to do some exercise.

08.

Torrevieja: a winter pick-me-up

Long beaches, warm days and salt flats are sure to banish your winter blues.

Torrevieja boasts a lovely stretch of coastline where you can laze in the sun, walk barefoot along the sand and listen to the sound of the lapping waves. Another of the destination’s attractions is Las Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park, salt flats that are famed for their pink-hued water

Lovely excuses to spend time outside and enjoy the winter sun.

Exquisite wine and gastronomy

The Region of Valencia will wow you with its cuisine

As diverse as our scenery, the dishes you will have the opportunity to try range from paella and cocas to hearty stews and bakes made of pumpkin. On the coast you can enjoy freshly caught fish and seafood while in the inland you can indulge in black truffle, olive oils and sausages.

The wines, particularly those from Utiel-Requena and the province of Alicante, are known for their strong character.

Fancy treating yourself to something delicious?
