In 1974, at a time when there were very few golfers in Spain, let alone fans of the sport, Luis Campomanes was determined for a golf course to be included in the plans for the property development known as El Aramo, in the foothills of the Sierra de Altea. This outstanding area close to the Mediterranean has some beautiful views and a wonderful light.

The course lies between the Sierra Bernia and the Mediterranean, a setting that adds to its undeniable beauty. It is very attractively designed, and the location makes this an unbeatable place for a round of golf. It is a semi-private club that is open to the public, with members and green fee players both using the course.

In recent years, an exhaustive improvement project has been undertaken on the fairways, slopes, pine forests and greenery. The bunkers use marble sand, which is ideal for striking the ball. The tees have been remodelled in such a way that two completely different rounds are possible, even though the course only has nine holes.

Work is also ongoing to renovate the irrigation system and to connect to a new treatment plant, which would also create an artificial lake in the middle of the course.
