What to see in Beniarbeig
To start your explorations, we’d recommend taking a stroll through the traditional historic centre of Beniarbeig, which runs alongside the course of the River Girona. As you wander the streets, you will realise that they still follow the medieval layout, transporting you back to the destination’s origins. Make sure you don’t miss San Juan Bautista Parish Church, an 18th-century Baroque place of worship, or the lines of colourful, traditional façades.
Venture outside Beniarbeig and you will find some fascinating hydraulic heritage sites. A nice idea is to take a walk in search of the old mills like Benihome and El Pla. You can also make your way to Cano del Molí or Cava dels Plans. You’re sure to have a great time roaming a landscape where mother nature merges seamlessly with the agricultural land.
A must during your time in Beniarbeig is to take a photo on the bridge. You’ll be standing on the imaginary line of the Greenwich meridian, which crosses through the town. This curiosity is one you’ll sure to want to share on social media and the photo will make a great one for your album.
Last but by no means least, we’d recommend walking from Beniarbeig to Sierra de Segaria, a beautiful mountainscape. A number of trails snake the landscape, granting incredible views over the county. The mountains are also home to caves where prehistoric remains have been found. Find out about the technical challenges and equipment you’ll need before you venture inside.
