Rockets that explode to look like a palm tree. Nit de l'Albà in Elche promises an extraordinary night of pyrotechnics.

On the night of the 13 August, Elche is illuminated by a truly impressive firework display. Honouring the patron saint of the town, Nit de l'Albà sees 2,000kg of gunpowder and 7,000 rockets go off, painting a spectacle of light and colour up to 300m in the sky.

Part of Elche’s Fiestas Patronales, Nit de l'Albà has been listed a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest. And it’s no surprise. Before midnight, all the lights in the town are turned off and Gloria Patri is played, the final song in Misteri d'Elx. Only then is the so-called Palmera de la Virgen set off from the tower of Basílica de Santa María: a spectacle of thousands of rockets that explode in the sky in the shape of a palm tree. Exciting and truly unique, this is a night of fireworks like no other.

Also known as Noche del fuego, Nit de l'Albà is one of the most highly anticipated events in the town’s calendar. Make sure you’re in Elche in the summer to see the show.
