Take a look around a lovely chapel in Onil which is connected to an emotional tradition. A great example of our heritage.

Ermita Nuestra Señora de la Salud, Nuestra Señora de la Salud Chapel in Onil, is connected to stories of miracles and healings, making it a beloved site among the locals.

The chapel sits on the outskirts of Onil town centre, close to Refugio SAF 15 (an air raid shelter from the Spanish Civil War). Inside, you can gaze at lovely frescoes and images as well as a traditional decoration that is defined by Valencian ceramics.

The chapel is dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Salud, Our Lady of Good Health, to whom the local population prayed in rogation to end the plague, which she did.

During your time in Onil, we would recommend nosing around the chapel, visiting sights like El Marqués de Dos Aguas Palace Fortress and Santiago Church as well as taking a look around the exhibitions at the Doll Museum and getting lost at the incredible hedge maze at Tápena House. You’re sure to be taken aback by the wealth of heritage populating this municipality in the province of Alicante.
