Every year, Pilar de la Horadada celebrates its fun extravagant parade, planning the event down to the smallest detail.

Desfile de Carrozas, the float parade, in Pilar de la Horadada is the finale to the Patron Saint festivities which are celebrated in October in honour of Virgen del Pilar. This event is the perfect way to wave goodbye to the festive season until its return next year to this coastal town in Alicante. Taking place on the Saturday following the 12th of October, which is the day of the traditional Virgin Mary procession, the float parade sets off along the streets. On the 11th, you can enjoy the moving flower offering that fills the town with colourful petals.

Local associations spend all year building their floats in preparation for this day when these magnificent mobile monuments are proudly paraded down the street. Try to spot the theme of each float’s decoration, and once the parade is over, see one lucky float that is chosen as the favourite. Visit Pilar de la Horadada when the exciting festivities are taking place to see the town come alive. While exploring the area and waiting for the float parade to kick off, visit Horadada Tower, a watchtower right on the coast that harks back to the 16th century. There are also plenty of fabulous beaches to check out if you have time. So plan your family holiday or trip with friends and come and cheer your favourite float on as it floods the street with colours and lights.
