The ruins of Castillo de Cirat, Cirat Castle, located in the namesake capital of El Alto Mijares, are a great excuse for an excursion through history. This castle dates back to the Islamic period and still possesses a commanding presence. Perched on a hilltop above Salinas ravine, the castle’s location would have been a strategic point for controlling the surrounding area.
