What to do in Eslida

Eslida’s historic centre dates back to the Islamic era, evident in its steep, snaking streets. Wander through the village and you’ll come across the old washhouse, along with a traditional ceramic tile from the 19th century. Step inside the 18th-century El Salvador Parish Church for a moment of reflection as you explore.

Continue your tour of Eslida by visiting El Cristo del Calvario Chapel, just a short walk from the town. Follow the winding path flanked with stone markers depicting scenes from the Passion. The climb is well worth it for the breathtaking views at the top.

Not far from the centre, you’ll find Eslida Castle. This medieval fortress surveys the surroundings of l’Alt de l’Aljub and the river Anna. Enjoy the short, uphill walk to admire the remains of the original castle towers.

Set off along the scenic trails that traverse Sierra de Espadán, weaving through pine and oak forests and passing curious historical sites such as Molí de l’Aire along the way. This historic windmill, with its original conical structure, dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries and stands proudly atop a hill.

Eslida also holds echoes of its wartime past, with old trenches, observatories, and defensive parapets scattered across the landscape. Another must-see is La Rambla Aqueduct, one of the area's most emblematic hydraulic structures. Dating back to the medieval era, it still preserves several of its original arches.

Not far from here, you’ll find old livestock pens and remnants of rural life scattered across the landscape. Be sure to check out the network of scenic trails that wind through the countryside. GR-36, PR-CV-137, PR-CV-138, SL-CVE-101 and PR-CV-352 will all take you into Eslida’s picturesque surroundings. Time to start planning your adventure.
