Discover an area of natural beauty where you might just be lucky enough to spot mammals, fish and amphibians.

Segorbe’s lakes are popular spots in the town and Sierra Calderona natural park. Combined, the destinations offer boundless scenery whose beauty will blow you away.

As you wander through the natural park, you will soon come across the lakes, which have been listed Protected Natural Spaces due to their environmental importance. There are four lakes to explore, namely Laguna de la Butrera, Laguna de la Rosa, Laguna del Gabacho and Laguna del Portillo.

All of the lakes are manmade as the area was historically excavated for its clay. During rainy periods, excess water would collect here.

You will see a variety of animals in and around the pools. Amphibians, reptiles, water birds and some fish have set up home here, making the lakes a must-visit if you love wildlife. In terms of vegetation, the banks are populated with reeds and other wetland species like cattail and rushes.

The viewing point, recreational area and wildlife trail have all been set up for visitors. If you and your family enjoy spending time together in the great outdoors, the lakes are the perfect choice of destination.

We’d recommend planning a walk with a stop off at the lakes so you can enjoy your time out in the fresh air. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you can then return to Segorbe to have a tasty bite to eat. Start planning your country getaway today.
