Let us take you on a getaway to a historic town brimming with colourful heritage. We recommend at least two days to uncover all of Xàtiva’s treasures. Get ready to fall in love on your next trip away.

There’s so much to see in Xàtiva, València, that it’s worth organising your trip beforehand so you don’t miss out on anything. We’ve compiled an itinerary so you can go on a two-day sightseeing tour, immersing yourself in the city’s rich history, one impressive landmark after another. Start packing now!

Xàtiva in 2 days: the historic centre

For your first day in Xàtiva, we’re taking you for a stroll around the artistic-historic centre of the city, where every street corner and stone fountain tells a story worth capturing on camera. Let’s begin at the Gothic San Francisco Church then make our way to the beautiful old manor houses.

Continuing our sightseeing tour around Xàtiva, we find ourselves at La Asunción or Santa Clara Royal Monastery and La Trinidad Convent. Not far from here is the house where Pope Alejandro VI was born - one of the most important figures in the Borja family legacy. Let’s walk a little further until we get to San Pedro Apóstol Parish Church for another journey back in time.

Need a quick pit stop? This would be the perfect moment to take advantage of Xàtiva’s incredible local cuisine by tucking into a plate of comforting baked rice, followed by a slice of arnadí, typical pumpkin dessert. These two dishes are fine examples of the delectable flavours the area has to offer.

Let’s go for a post-lunch walk, passing ornate ceramic tiles on the walls along the way, until we reach the remains of the town wall and barbican. To round off the first day, make your way to La Asunción de Nuestra Señora Collegiate Church, known as La Seu, Santo Domingo Ex-Convent and the Old Royal Hospital. Day one is guaranteed to be a busy one!

Xàtiva in 2 days: the castle and museums

Visiting Xàtiva over two days gives you enough time to explore the town’s three most iconic landmarks. Start your adventure by climbing up to the fairytale-like castle, located atop a hill overlooking the town. Walk among the fortress walls and uncover the rich history and secrets that lie within.

Head back down to town and spend the remainder of the day in the fantastic El Almudí Museum, home to remarkable prehistoric artefacts. If your schedule allows, venture out into the surroundings for a scenic walk or check out Cova Negra during your stay. Xàtiva has so much to see - you won’t run out of things to do!
