Finding out what to do in Alcoy in two days is easier with this tour brimming with monuments and surprises. Use it to prepare a spectacular getaway.

Want to plan a well-rounded getaway? We've prepared a route including the best things to see in Alcoy over two days. Get ready to discover a really fascinating town close to two natural parks, Carrascal de la Font Roja and Sierra de Mariola. Take note!

Visiting Alcoy: day 1

In this first part of our route discovering what to see in Alcoy over two days we will get to know the town centre, which is ringed by mountains and furrowed by deep ravines traversed by bridges. What a spectacular landscape!

Start in the old town, where ruins still stand of the medieval walls, then continue strolling to find churches such as those of San Mauro and San Francisco, Santa María or San Jorge. Little by little, you will find yourself immersed in Alcoy’s Art Nouveau, known as Modernismo in Spain.

These beautiful Art Nouveau buildings are linked to a time of great social change, commemorated in September at a Modernista or Art Nouveau fair. Among the most spectacular are El Círculo Industrial and la Casa de Escaló.

After eating in Alcoy, perhaps sampling the pericana salad (made of red peppers, dried cod, garlic and olive oil), visit the Cervantes Air Raid Shelter or the Paleontological and Science Museum Collection Isurus Alcoy. And don't forget that the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern, IVAM, has opened one of its branches here! Finally, we suggest a walk through Viaduct Park.

Plans in Alcoy: day 2

Let’s keep discovering what to see in Alcoy over two days! On this second day, we’ll invite you to get to know its environs, brimming with surprises. To begin with, admire an industrial landscape with a panoramic view over the Barxell or Riquer River (its name changes in different sections). Then you could choose various hiking routes, for example, to Barxell Tower

Another great option is visiting La Sarga rock shelters, for which you will have to arrange a guided tour, or La Serreta archaeological site, an outdoor activity. And, of course, we recommend you fall in love with El Carrascal de la Font Roja Natural Park, one of our best-preserved natural environments. Or visit the Barranc del Cint in the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park!

Remember too that if you're in Alcoy at Christmas you simply must admire the Nativity scene in Tirisiti and the Three Kings Parade. Between April and May the city is transformed with its Moors and Christians festivities. Save this itinerary through Alcoy over two days and enjoy a fabulous getaway!
