It’s difficult to enjoy everything there is to see in and around Torrevieja in one day. This part of La Vega Baja in the province of Alicante is bursting at the seams with things to do, catering to the whims and wishes of all sorts of travellers. We’ve put together this two-day itinerary so you don’t need to worry about missing a thing: all you have to do is pick your dates and pack your bags!
What to see in Torrevieja: day 1
First on our list of things to see in and around Torrevieja is the coast, which boasts a large number of beaches, including La Mata, El Cura, Los Locos and Los Náufragos. There are plenty of coves too and the coastline is teeming with life. These spots are beautiful no matter the time of the year you visit – in the winter you can even enjoy taking a simple walk.
The coast is lined with old watchtowers, like El Moro Watchtower, which have been protecting the seas for centuries. Another idea that is perfect for your first morning is a trip to the Museum of the Sea and Salt.
Afterwards, you are sure to find a place where you can indulge in the local gastronomy. And to conclude day one, we recommend heading to one of the most peculiar and best-known places in the destination: the Floating Delfín S-61 Submarine Museum, a submarine which once belonged to the Navy that now opens its doors to visitors.
What to do in Torrevieja: day 2
Next on our list of things to see in and around Torrevieja is Las Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park. This lovely area is defined by the combination of pristine nature and salt mining, which together create unique landscapes. If you’re into photography, don’t forget your camera.
The natural park is an exceptional place for birding as you can see species like flamingos, ducks and black-winged stilts. There are a number of viewing points where you can wait and watch without disturbing the wildlife as well as picnic areas where you can take a break. Some of the lake waters are a shade of pink, which paint a striking picture. So what do you say? Fancy coming to explore everything there is to see in and around Torrevieja in two days?
