- Utiel, Requena, Bocairent, Moixent/Mogente
There’s nothing quite like a wine tour to immerse you in the culture, traditions and heritage of a new destination. In this three-day itinerary, we’ll take you to four destinations in the province of Valencia where you can really throw yourself into the world of wine. Shall we get going?
Three-day wine tour in the province of Valencia
The Utiel and Requena wine tour is one of the most popular wine experiences in the province of Valencia. But, it’s not the only tour on offer. If you love visiting wineries, wandering through rows of vines and taking part in tasting and pairing sessions, this area will not disappoint. In this itinerary, you will discover incredible destinations and - of course - sample fine wines.
Day 1: Bocairent wine tour
Not only is Bocairent one of the most picturesque towns in the province of Valencia, it also offers plenty of things to see and do. The destination has a number of fascinating structures that have been excavated from the rock, namely Covetes dels Moros (Moorish caves), Cava de Sant Blai (an old ice house) and monasterio rupestre (a monastery in a cave). Explore all three and then wander the beautiful streets of the historic centre.
Once you’ve finished visiting the town’s sights, you can sit down to enjoy local wines and other delicacies such as pericana, a tasty dip, and flavoursome dishes such as bajoques farcides (stuffed peppers).
Day 2: Mogente wine tour
The second day of your wine tour takes you to Mogente. Here you will not only be treated to quality wines, but you can also explore the Iberian settlement of Bastida de les Alcusses. Guerrer de Moixent was found at this important archaeological site. To find out more about this settlement, we recommend taking a look around the archaeological museum.
In Mogente you can visit wineries where ancestral traditions fuse with the latest technologies to make the most delicious vintages. You can learn about how wine is produced in the region. And, it goes without saying, enjoy a tasting session or two.
Day 3: Font de la Figuera and Fontanars dels Alforins wine tour
The final day of this itinerary takes you to not one but two municipalities in the province of Valencia. Both Font de la Figuera and Fontanars dels Alforins have a long winemaking tradition and spectacular scenery that will blow you away.
With countless renowned wineries and beautiful landscapes such as Regaixo and Ruta de la Cal, the area lends itself to leisurely days spent sipping different varieties, enjoying the nuances of flavour and learning everything there is to know about each bottle. So what are you waiting for? Run away to the vines in the province of Valencia and awaken your inner sommelier.
