La Font Roja is one of the most beautiful natural parks in the Region of Valencia. Extending for 2,200 hectares, the landscape is home to a wide variety of plant life, including kermes oaks, pine trees and maple trees. Best explored on foot, the park will envelop you in enchanting scenery all year round.
And there’s no lack of hiking routes for you to walk. One will lead you up to El Menejador, the highest peak in the park at 1,356m above sea level. There is also the red route, which starts at Santuario de la Font Roja and leads you to Barranco del Infierno, a spectacular gorge that is well worth a visit.
The yellow route, meanwhile, will take you to Mirador de Pilatos, a viewing point affording breathtaking views over the valley, which comes alive in a blaze of colour in the spring and autumn. The blue route is no less spectacular. It will lead you to Pla de la Mina, an old charcoal pile, before continuing to Mirador del Pla de la Mina, where you can breathe in panoramic vistas over Santuario de la Font Roja, Alcoy and Polop valley.
