València is the perfect city for wandering aimlessly around. Every street has a secret and the beautiful gardens, parks and plazas will capture your imagination. During your time in València, you’ll be immersed in a welcoming and magical place where century-old traditions rub shoulders with modernity. The sun will beam down on you as you stroll through the park located in the old river bed, make your way through the historic centre to Plaza del Ayuntamiento or head down to El Cabanyal district to see the sea.
There are plenty of things to see in València city. If you’ve got three days, you’ll have time to explore different districts. Start your explorations in the historic centre where you can soak up the essence of cap i casal, as the city is traditionally called. As you leisurely amble around the narrow streets you’ll be left speechless by the historic buildings you’ll come across. Make sure you stop off at València cathedral, El Miguelete, and Quart and Serranos towers.
And that’s not all. Lonja de la Seda is a must-visit. Listed a World Heritage Site, the Silk Exchange, as it’s commonly called in English, is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. And if you’re looking for a bustling terrace where you can sit down and have something to drink, recently remodelled Plaza de la Reina and Plaza de la Virgen are the perfect spots.
The Art Nouveau style is prevalent in València and setting off in search of it is a great way to spend your time. You’ll find yourself standing in front of incredible sites like Estación del Norte, the train station, which is decorated with ceramics and agricultural motifs. Mercado Central, the central market, is another beautiful piece of architecture. As you step inside, you’ll be blown away by the way the light shines through the windows. Spend some time here browsing the stalls and take home something tasty to eat or drink as a souvenir.
And then at Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias the architecture changes completely. The City of Arts and Sciences’ futurist look collides with everything you have seen up until now. Here you can visit Oceanogràfic to gaze at fascinating marine life, Museu de les Ciències (the science museum), which promises a great family day out complete with all sorts of interactive games, and Hemisfèric to watch a 3D film. València is a safe bet if you’re looking to enjoy the most incredible experiences. So what are you waiting for? Come and discover just how many things there are to see and do here.
