Bicorp and Monóvar, Valencian Capitals of Culture

Bicorp and Monóvar have been named Valencian Capitals of Culture 2024. This title seeks to promote municipalities that have put a lot of work into their cultural events and activities, which are experiences that enrich every visit to the Region of Valencia. 

With the declaration of Bicorp and Monóvar as Valencian Capitals of Culture, the destinations have become epicentres of culture in the Region of Valencia. The year 2024 is a great time to come for a visit and to explore everything they have to offer.

Monóvar was chosen for its theatre project for young people, Urban Art Event and Cultural Week, in addition to its work raising the profile of the writer Azorín. We’d recommend taking the cultural route, which will lead you to Azorín Museum House, as well as looking around the Permanent Museum Collection of Monóvar’s Arts and Trades. 

Bicorp, on the other hand, was selected for its commitment to activities connected to its incredible archaeological sites, such as the rock art located in El Randero and Moreno gorges and the Gineses and Joaquina rock shelters, among others. A highlight is the rock art in La Araña Cave which depicts a scene of honey collection.
