Bodegas Riko in Xaló
Discover the joy of wine tourism at Bodegas Riko, a winery located in Xaló in the province of Alicante. Housed in an historic building dating back to the year 1800, the bodegas not only produces quality wines and mistelas, it also opens its doors to visitors offering a selection of experiences revolving around grapes and winemaking.
Accompanied by experts at all times, you will be immersed in the world of wine. As you wander around the winery and take a look at the different tools and equipment used, you will learn all the steps involved in the winemaking process. You will also explore Toll del Gos, the vineyard where muscat grapes are grown, and breathe in the tranquillity of the landscape. And, of course, you will visit the cellar where the vintages are left to age, an important step in the production of Bodegas Riko bottles.
Also included on your tour is a small exhibition displaying traditional clothing and a number of delicious artisanal products. As you would expect, there will be time dedicated to tasting Bodegas Riko’s mistela and learning how to pair wine with food, such as local sausages. If you are particularly interested in tasting, you could even sign up to a beginners tasting class that will teach you the basics of identifying the different notes and nuances in wines.
Bodegas Riko is skilled at creating products that capture the essence of Marina Alta and running experiences revolving around wine. Make sure you come and visit next time you’re in Xaló so you can discover just how muscat grapes are transformed into delicious wines and mistelas. While you’re in the area, you could also visit the beautiful natural pools, mills and historic centre. A truly unforgettable experience.
