All this year you have the chance to go on a guided tour of Cartuja de Ara Christi in el Puig de Santa Maria, with two tours given every month until December. This Carthusian monastery was built in the 16th century and has many distinct features: a church, cells, a main cloister, two smaller cloisters, the chapter house, refectory, concierge, garden and stables. In 1996, it was named a Site of Cultural Interest and raised to monument status. Now you can go inside and admire the intricate decoration in the church’s dome or the chapel for the dead. Don’t forget to sign up beforehand and get ready to be blown away by the building's sombre beauty.
