What to see in La Yesa

Starting in the centre of La Yesa, make sure you don’t miss Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles Parish Church, which was built in the 17th century. Poke your head inside and you’ll discover some fascinating works of art. Next, wander the streets to see old arches and coats of arms that have been carved into the stone façades, elements that characterise the centre of La Yesa.

We’d recommend taking a walk to visit the destination’s three chapels, namely San Juan Bautista Chapel, San Roque Chapel and the ruins of San Sebastián Chapel. You will also want to see the fountain and public wash house, which is surrounded by agricultural land. History is everywhere in and around La Yesa, steeped in the streets, mills, ponds, farmyards and old tile workshops and olive presses. You’ll find yourself reaching for your camera time and again.

Alternatively, you can set off in search of civilisations following trails that lead you to El Castellar, an Iberian settlement. Along the way, you will see Corral de las Hoyas, an abandoned hamlet. Once in El Castellar, you’ll see the walls, the tower and the marks of old carriages engraved into the ground. An information panel gives you the opportunity to learn all about it.

Nearby, there is a viewing point granting incredible vistas. Take a deep breath and enjoy the scenery of Los Serranos. There are also all sorts of other signposted trails that you can either walk or cycle, namely La Ceja y el Sancho trail, Los Oficios trail, El Alto Negro trail and more. Choose the one that appeals to you and start exploring everything there is to see in La Yesa
