Discover a history-steeped town with plenty to see and do sitting on the doorstep of an incredible natural park. Start planning your getaway to Manises.
Sitting next to El Turia natural park and just a stone’s throw from València, Manises is internationally renowned for its artisanal ceramics. But beyond this, it is a town bursting with culture and festivities that you won’t want to miss. Shall we explore them together?
What to do in Manises
With every step you take through Manises, you will find the vestiges of an incredible ceramic legacy that has led the town to be named a UNESCO Creative City. Visit Museo de Cerámica, the ceramics museum, and you will gain a better understanding of this recognition while learning about the history of the tradition and industry.
Another interesting place to explore is Museo de Fotografía Carlos Sanchís García (a photography museum) and, if you can, we’d recommend spending time at one of the ceramic workshops that opens its doors to visitors. It’s a great activity for all the family and you will all learn a lot. Next stop on your exploration should be the municipal market, the façades of the old ceramic factories and Parque Histórico de la Cerámica Valenciana.
18th-century San Juan Bautista church and San Antonio chapel are other points of interest to include on your tour around Manises, a destination that is also home to a golf club with a long history behind it.
Just outside Manises, you can’t miss Maqbara Muslim necropolis, the Civil War shelter and “Els Arcs” aqueduct, which has been dated to the Roman and medieval periods. If you enjoy spending time with mother nature, make your way to El Turia natural park to soak up the incredible biodiversity and walk trails that have been designed to take you aback, like Ruta de las Masías. You could also venture into the agricultural land on Ruta del Racó.
Manises’ festivities are an excellent opportunity to explore the town, particularly the festival in July, Fiesta y Cabalgata de la Cerámica, which shines the light on ceramic artisans. And the rest of the year, you’ll be blown away by Fallas, Holy Week, Moors and Christians, and the Medieval Fair. Don’t miss everything Manises has to offer.
