Find out everything you need to know about one of Moncada’s oldest religious traditions: Misterio de la Pasión.

Misterio de la Pasión is one of the most traditional events in Moncada. Part of the town’s Semana Santa (Holy Week) celebrations, it was listed an event of tourist interest in the year 1967.

The event involves a number of theatrical performances that are held at Pabellón de Deportes del Patronato San Jaime Apóstol on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Each year, the performances tell the story of parts of the Old Testament, the Redemption, Maundy Thursday and Pilate with Jesus.

The latter parades through the streets until reaching Santa Bárbara chapel, a place of worship enveloped in beautiful natural surroundings. Here the Crucifixion is enacted with special effects. Misterio de la Pasión then comes to a close with the procession of the Holy Burial.

Come to Moncada to see this religious tradition that is still very much alive.
