If you’re looking for a place where you can relax and unwind, Piles is it. The pretty beach with its seafront promenade is calling out to be enjoyed.

Located in the province of Valencia, Piles is home to an attractive beach defined by fine golden sand, tranquil waters and dunes that are teeming with life. A 1km stretch of the coastline that is ideal for days out with all the family. Keep reading to discover the wonders of Piles, a municipality that is ideal for a getaway in the sun.

What to see in Piles

Piles, which is situated in La Safor county and rubs shoulders with the Mediterranean, is divided into two distinct areas: the historic centre and the beach. The two parts of the village are separated by agricultural land, which is a lovely place to take a walk or bike ride.

In the 18th century, Piles started to expand, though the previous period and its Moorish origins are still present in the layout of some streets, namely Baix, Carreró and Forn.

The 18th-century parish church is located on the site that was once a mosque. The rectangular Baroque belltower is beautiful, and well worth coming to take a look at. In the centre of the village, there is a cross where people come together in religious devotion on the first Sunday of May

At Piles beach you can enjoy water sports, children’s playgrounds and training areas: everything you could possibly want for a day at the seaside. To the north of the seafront promenade sits Torre de Guaita, a 16th-century tower that was historically used for monitoring the coast. The structure has been restored and we’d recommend coming to have a look. The walls will capture your attention. The tower sits in a bustling park where you can have something to drink and have fun in the summer months when there are film screenings and live music.

Piles has a lot going on in terms of festivities. You won’t want to miss the patron saint festival honouring San Felipe Neri in May, the Santa Bárbara festivities in December or the food, craft and commerce fair which also takes place in December. And then there’s a week of sport which features a fun run in August. Great times of the year to come and visit a municipality bursting with plenty of things to see and do. Come and explore Piles and fall in love with the incredible atmosphere.
