La Safor is home to a small and pretty municipality with plenty of things to get up to. Fancy coming to explore it with us?
Potries has got a long list of interesting trails that are calling out to be explored and cultural experiences that you will never forget. One thing's for sure: you won’t be short on things to do here. Here’s a list of the highlights that you can enjoy in this lovely village.
What to see in Potries
Potries is home to a wonderful museum, Cassoleria d’Àngel Domínguez Museum, where you can take a look around a fascinating exhibition as well as ask for information and take part in different cultural experiences.
After, we’d recommend setting off to explore the Water Walk, which will take you on an exploration of irrigation systems that are over half a millennium old and snake through beautiful scenery. A wonderful way to learn about the history of this part of the Region of Valencia. Specifically, you will discover the importance of Potries in the trading and manufacturing of sugar and ceramics. The village was part of the Borja empire.
Potries’ agricultural land beckons you to come and explore. As you venture into the landscape, you’ll see dry stone terraces, plenty of incredible plants and wildlife and even a small beach close to the river.
In the centre, you will find narrow and winding streets, some of which are very steep. While you’re here, we recommend visiting the town hall, which dates from the 17th century and Los Santos Juanes parish church, from the 16th century. The church houses the relic of San Blas, an object that is worshipped at Potries’ biggest festival: Porrat de Sant Blai.
Listed a Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest, the festivity combines religious and fun events. You can expect kids’ workshops, typical cuisine, live music and religious events taking place over the course of several days. There’s no better time to come and visit Potries. You might even have the opportunity to try its delicious rice dishes or tasty bonítol.
Talking of food, you can’t leave without trying buñuelos de calabaza, deep-fried pumpkin doughnuts. So what are you waiting for? Come and explore this lovely part of La Safor.
