In this post, we’re going to give you a tiny edit of the very many places that are well worth a visit in inland Region of Valencia. Travelling from province to province, we’ll give you plenty of inspiration for getaways in the country. Get ready to put plenty of new destinations on your to-visit list.
Inland province of Castellón: beautiful villages
In inland province of Castellón, we’d recommend exploring Salto de la Novia, a waterfall located on a beautiful walk in Navajas. Cervera del Maestre is another great option, a pretty village whose Medieval streets and robust castle will blow you away.
In the Alto Mijares area sits Cirat, a wonderful place to dip into natural pools and spend time lazing on inland beaches. Vilafamés, which has been named one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, is a great destination to soak up some history and visit an extraordinary contemporary art gallery.
Last but by no means least on this abbreviated list of the best inland destinations in Castellón, we’d recommend exploring the seven hamlets that comprise Setena in Tinença de Benifassà natural park. The landscapes here are populated with veteran trees and are sure to leave you feeling impressed by the majesty of mother nature.
Inland province of Valencia: delicious wines and delicacies
Inland province of Valencia has no shortage of breathtaking landscapes and Medieval villages. There are many destinations that you’ll want to visit, but here are just a few. Ayora is a place where the natural world and history combine to create incredible vistas. And then there’s Sierra Calderona, a natural park where El Garbí, a viewing point, affords far-reaching views over the Mediterranean. Bolbaite has a great castle and Mogente boasts incredible archaeological sites.
Requena-Utiel is wine country and a must-visit for lovers of the finer things in life. And if you’ve got time, we’d highly recommend visiting the beautiful scenery of Rincón de Ademuz.
Inland province of Alicante: mountains, valleys and castles
Alicante is a province populated with Medieval castles, great mountains and valleys, and beautiful villages. Though we don’t have space to list all the destinations we think you should visit, we’d like to mention the beautiful village of Agres where you can see age-old ice houses nestled among the yew trees in Sierra de Mariola.
Villena castle is part of a fascinating itinerary that will take you on an exploration of the fortresses in the province as well as a tour of its tastiest dishes. The valleys of the inland are also a must-visit for their breathtaking views. Barranc de l’Infern and Cova del Rull in La Vall d’Ebo are a couple of cases in point.
And last but by no means least, we’d recommend heading to the beautiful landscapes of Sierra Aitana where pretty springs, spectacular gorges and small sun-kissed villages are calling out to be explored. So what are you waiting for? Come to inland Region of Valencia to fall in love with the scenery.
