Discover a town sitting on the banks of L’Albufera where you can wander around typical streets and visit the fascinating archaeological museum. Start making your way to Silla.

Plan a getaway to Silla, situated in Horta Sud in the province of Valencia, to immerse yourself in the scenery of the huerta – the agricultural land – and incredible L’Albufera Natural Park. Come and explore lovely rural and natural surrounds in a town with plenty of surprises up its sleeves.

What to do in Silla

In the centre of Silla, we recommend making your way to the Tower, which was built between the 11th and 12th centuries atop a Roman construction. The tower is a medieval military structure, which in the present-day houses part of the Museum of Silla’s History and Archaeology, also known as MARS. Take your time to take a look around the collection, which features Roman, Islamic and Christian remains, as well as contemporary pieces found in Silla.

Continue exploring the streets of the historic centre and you will find yourself standing in front of the Old Post Office, a handsome building from the 18th century, as well as Sagrada Familia school, which is an old palace. Other interesting Art Nouveau buildings can be found on the streets of València, Sant Roc and Sant Josep. The parish church is dedicated to Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles and was built around the year 1751, commissioned by the Order of Montesa

If you are keen to roam new natural landscapes, you will be taken aback by Silla Port in L’Albufera, where the agricultural land fuses with the rice fields. The scenery here is unique and makes a wonderful spot to watch the sunset. You’ll find yourself reaching for your camera to take photos with boats with their typical lateen sail floating in the background. If you love birding, make sure you don’t forget your binoculars.

Did you know that Silla is home to archaeological sites too? Alteró, La Torre, L’Alter and El Mas de Baix sites give us an insight into what life was like in the area centuries ago. Take a walk through the agricultural land to come and explore them. Put Silla on your to-visit list and start planning a getaway – you’re going to love everything you see.
