Museu de la Farmàcia in Banyeres de Mariola is one of a collection of museums known as Museus de Banyeres de Mariola. The museum will immerse you in the world of 20th century pharmacies, showing you the objects the pharmacists used to do their work and the roles they were expected to fulfill.

The museum is located in Vil·la Rosario, a lovely park where you will also find Museu Valencià del Paper (the paper museum) and Museu de l'Espardenya (the espadrille museum).

The museum houses a collection of objects that tell the story of the evolution of pharmacies over the years. You will find plenty of information panels, recreations and exhibition rooms displaying the tools the pharmacists of yesteryear used to make their products.

Pharmacists used to make the medicines themselves until the late 19th century. It was also their job to carry out clinical tests ordered by the doctor and sell products such as alcohol and talc by weight. You will also see equipment such as microscopes, scales and laboratory ovens that pharmacists used in their daily work.

There is an exhibition of materials used for advertising purposes such as toys, calendars, postcards and stickers. The museum also has an incredibly detailed recreation of a pharmacy counter and laboratory. There is a space for temporary exhibitions, which change on a regular basis, meaning you can visit Museu de la Farmàcia time after time and always see something new.
