Uncover Elda’s incredible archaeological gem. With guided visits open to the public, this site is a great opportunity to delve into the local ancient history.

Yacimiento Arqueológico El Monastil, El Monastil Archeological Site in Elda, located in the province of Alicante, is a must-visit, home to ancient remains dating back to 3000 BC. Due to the site’s strategic location, other civilisations such as the Iberians, Romans and Almohades also settled here over the centuries. Remains of old towns and dwellings still stand at El Monastil, which feature three ovens that belonged to a pottery workshop and a Roman blacksmith. Grave goods and ceramic objects give us a glimpse into past eras, making El Monastil an incredible fountain of information. We recommend signing up for a guided tour of the site to uncover the fascinating history that has left its mark on this corner of Elda.

During your visit to Elda, take a peek at the magnificent castle, Elda Turret watchtower, the Shoe Museum and Elda’s Archeological Museum. Elda is a destination brimming with things to do, don’t miss a thing!
