Murla is a village with a unique history. Come and unearth its secrets in sights like this small chapel.

Ermita de la Sangre, La Sangre Chapel in Murla, located in La Marina Alta in the province of Alicante, is a small place of worship whose walls have plenty of stories to tell. Sitting on the corner of La Sangre and Padre Reig street, in the heart of the village, this former jail and “village hospital” for women was turned into a chapel in the Middle Ages.

La Sangre Chapel has one vault and two transverse arches. The altar is crowned with a beautiful image of Ecce Homo. The old San Francisco de Borja chapel, located on one of two sides, has housed the image of the Divina Aurora, the patron saint of the village, since 1856. Take advantage of your visit to Murla to visit this chapel in addition to San Sebastián Chapel and San Miguel Arcángel Castle-Parish Church. And if you enjoy getting active in the great outdoors, Murla won’t disappoint with its landscapes that are ideal for mountain biking and hiking and routes leading to Penyó Roig. What do you say?
