Discover the heritage site of Llavador, Naixement i Abeurador del Poble, the village’s Washhouse, Water Fountain and Drinking Trough, sitting in the heart of Murla in the midst of the beautiful scenery of Vall de Pop in the province of Alicante. The water reaches this historic infrastructure via an underground tunnel, emerging in a large plaza where it feeds a water fountain with four spouts.
There is also a drinking trough and a public washhouse in the same area. These meeting places, known as safareig in Valencian, were well-known for the atmosphere created by the women who were historically given the hard task of washing all sorts of clothing and linen in cold water.
This site is part of Murla’s history and will connect you with what life was like in times past. Don’t miss it. Murla also has another similar site, the Old Village Washhouse, which you will want to put on your to-visit list.
