Visit La Cordà Tower in Oropesa del Mar and travel back to the time of Barbary pirates. The tower is close to Vía Verde del Mar.

Torre de la Cordà, La Cordà Tower, sits on the coastline of Oropesa del Mar. The tower is also known as El Barranc de la Mala Dona Tower and La Renegà Tower. With El Rey Tower to the north and Colomera Tower to the south, it is part of a series of defence structures that line this stretch of the province of Castellón coastline. In the 16th century, the Duke of Maqueda commissioned Joan Bernardí de Cervelló to build the watchtower to the side of El Rey Tower.

Built out of stone, La Cordà Tower in Oropesa del Mar is a truncated cone with a circular base. It stands 16 m tall and measures 5 m in diameter. Fires were burnt on top of the tower to communicate with the other towers and warn the population of incoming Barbary pirate attacks.

Take advantage of your visit to the tower to breathe in the incredible sea views, followed by a bike ride or walk along Vía Verde del Mar. Enjoy all the activities and experiences Oropesa del Mar has to offer.
