Come and explore a part of the province of Valencia where water has sculpted a beautiful landscape. Here is everything you need to know to enjoy your time in Bolbaite.

Situated in a pretty part of La Canal de Navarrés in inland province of Valencia, Bolbaite is a great destination if you love hiking. Discover everything you need to know to make the most of your time here in this short guide.

What to do in Bolbaite

A good place to start is in the centre of Bolbaite, which is home to an interesting building: Los Cabanyelles Castle Palace. This Almohad treasure dates back to the 12th to 19th centuries. With its Gothic and Renaissance features, it is a priceless masterpiece of the Valencian Golden Age that once housed the government of the former Kingdom of Valencia.

Wander among the traditional houses and you will soon come across the wash house and the fountains as well as 18th century San Francisco de Paula church. Bolbaite is the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll, taking in all the surroundings.

From the historic centre, you can continue walking to Bolbaite’s best-known attraction: “Paraje del Río Sellent”, a recreational area on the banks of the river Bolbaite. If you’re visiting in the summer months, don’t forget to bring your swimsuit and towel.

This beautiful inland swimming spot has been converted to make it the perfect place to take a dip on the hottest days of the year. The swimming area has an underground cave and the water forming at Gorgo Cadena is crystalline. You will also find a pretty wooden bridge and a waterfall. There’s a picnic area complete with tables and everything else you’ll need for your day out.

Santa Bárbara chapel also has its very own recreational area, which affords beautiful views from its elevated position. And if you like viewing points, make sure you don’t miss those of Secaderos de Tabaco. In terms of Bolbaite’s festivities, San Antón in January is a must attend.

Before you leave, make sure you try mantecados de almendra (almond sweets) and pasteles de boniato (sweet potato pastries) for a sugary end to your time in Bolbaite.
