Explore the hiking and cycling trails surrounding Estivella and be immersed in the most beautiful Valencian landscapes.
Located in inland province of Valencia, Estivella is a destination that will win your heart with its incredible walking trails that set off into the spectacular mountains of Sierra Calderona natural park with its popular viewing point, El Garbí.
What to see in Estivella
A great place to start your exploration of Estivella is in the village itself. Here you will come across quintessentially Valencian houses as well as historic buildings such as Els Arcs aqueduct, Santos Juanes - a Baroque church complete with bell tower - and the interesting parish museum.
The scenery enveloping Estivella will blow you away. The mountains are peppered with rugged rocks and covered in leafy plant life which you can immerse yourself in by following the countless trails. Font del Barraix is a particularly beautiful part of the mountains and a popular spot among walkers and cyclists. Other options include walking to Penya Roja or following Senda de la Tancà or Senda del Blanquissar. But whatever you do, don’t miss El Garbí, a spectacular rocky ledge that juts out to give you the most breathtaking vistas over the Mediterranean.
The area is a paradise for nature lovers. Take your time to wander around, breathe it all in and - if you’re lucky - spot some incredible birds such as Bonelli’s eagles, goshawks and eagle owls as well as small mammals like rabbits and squirrels. Spanish pond turtles also call these mountains their home.
If you can, try to coincide your visit with Sant Blai so you can try some traditional dishes like arrós amb fesols i naps and cocas, and enjoy listening to some traditional band music. Another festival you won’t want to miss is Sant Roc, which is held in the summer. If you’re in the mood for a country escape, Estivella is a great choice of destination.
