Situated in the county of La Costera, Parque Natural Municipal Barranc de la Fosch, Barranc de la Fosch Municipal Natural Park, showcases the thriving nature of the Valencian landscape. Set among the dramatic Serra Gross mountains, this park is tucked away in a valley in Montesa. The river Cànyoles gushes through the landscapes, carving its path through ravines and along riverbanks brimming with Mediterranean vegetation.
This is a great place to visit if you’re looking for hikes in the province of Valencia. Throw yourself into the natural landscape, abound in flora, and encounter fragrant plants, asparagus fields and blackberry bushes. Barranc de la Fosch is also home to beautiful birds of prey, including the Eurasian eagle-owl and the short-toed snake eagle. You’ll also come across bats, lizards, snakes and tortoises along the way. See if you can spot some watery creatures, such as the gallipato, the largest newt in Europe.
Barranc de la Fosch Municipal Natural Park also boasts a rich cultural heritage, present in its old stone houses. From Barranc de la Fosch, you can also visit Monstesa Castle and marvel at the sweeping views of its natural surroundings.
