The Counts’ Palace of Villa Paterna is a symbol of artistry and history that currently houses Paterna Town Hall.

Palacio de los Condes de Villa Paterna, the Counts’ Palace of Villa Paterna, is one of the most iconic monuments in the town. Commissioned in 1760 by D. Antonio Pando y Bringas, the first Count of Villa Paterna, the building was designed by architect Antonio Gilabert, Director of the San Carlos Fine Arts Academy. The Counts’ Palace of Villa Paterna is a rectangular building with three storeys. As you look at the façade, your attention will be drawn by the elegant main door and balconies, as well as the counts’ impressive coats of arms. Did you know that the building hasn’t always been a palace? Over the course of its history, the Counts’ Palace of Villa Paterna has been a school, a hospital during the war and a poorhouse. It has belonged to Paterna Council since 1983, serving as the Town Hall and conserving the building’s architectural and historical legacy. Make sure you come for a visit. While you’re in the town, you will also want to check out the unusual cave-houses, which starred in the film "Pain and Glory” by Almodóvar.
