Did you know that under the streets and houses of Requena there is a real labyrinth of caves from the Muslim period? We invite you to visit them and discover how they have been used over time. Although it may seem shocking, many homes in Requena have a cave as part of the house. Geology has made it possible for the subsoil to be easily excavated and, for this reason, between the 12th and 13th centuries, during the Muslim period, the 22 caves that can still be found today were dug out. It is now possible to visit them thanks to the fact that the labyrinth that is the Cuevas de la Villa has been adapted for public access. Far from letting them go to waste, the municipality has recognised their heritage and historical value and has respected them as a fundamental part of the ethnographic memory of Requena, as an underground museum. To know the history of the Cuevas de la Villa is to learn about this land so rich in traditions.
Avant-garde, history and sustainability in a natural environment full of vineyards, among small villages where life goes by at a different pace. Enjoy this wine tourism experience in Requena that will show you a way of understanding wine that respects the land above all else. To finish the visit to the winery, we will have a tasting of three wines accompanied by zero kilometre cold meats, artisan cheeses, baked bread, organic olive oil from a local olive oil mill and chocolate.
You will visit the first olive oil mill in the Valencia Region with an exclusively organic line, located within the area of influence of the Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Dedicated to the production of a high quality Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) that incorporates the knowledge of tradition, the latest technological advances and passion. They contribute not only to the preservation of their resources and biodiversity, but also to the conservation and creation of services for society, support and cultural services such as the culture of olive oil, from intellectual enrichment to ecotourism. The production technique is organic cultivation. The key is the biodiversity above and below ground of the agents involved in it, pollinators, mycorrhizae,... and their systems of symbiosis and balance. An olive grove supported by internal corridors of biodiversity, based on vegetation cover and integrated woodland within the estate.
