Don’t miss Requena’s most historic side with a visit to this old convent located on the outskirts of the town.

Antiguo Convento de San Francisco, the Old San Francisco Convent in Requena, located in the province of Valencia, sits in the La Loma district on the outskirts of the town. Building work on the convent started in the 16th century when it was commissioned by a community of Franciscan Friars.

With a total surface area of 3600 m², the Renaissance and Baroque-style convent building comprises four wings, each three storeys high, a stone-built belltower and a lovely Late Renaissance cloister and Baroque church. Nowadays you can visit Requena's Holy Week Museum, which it also houses. Make sure you complete your visit to the Old San Francisco Convent with a walk through the medieval La Villa neighbourhood and a visit to the iconic caves. You can also enjoy some wine tourism in beautiful settings during your time here as Requena is the land of incredible wines. We look forward to seeing you.
