Step inside a Gothic church in the heart of Requena’s historic centre for a journey back in time.

Iglesia Parroquial de El Salvador, El Salvador Parish Church, located in the heart of Requena's La Villa neighbourhood, is one of the town's most iconic landmarks. Tracing its origins back to the 15th century, the church showcases a blend of Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical architectural styles.

El Salvador Parish Church’s most striking feature is the flamboyant Gothic façade, adorned with intricate carvings and remnants of original sculptures. Inside, the church comprises three naves separated by slender columns, each adorned with ornate vaulted ceilings. A notable highlight is the Communion Chapel, featuring an octagonal layout and a dome illuminated by a lantern.

The bell tower was rebuilt after a collapse and showcases sturdy stonework at the base, while the upper section, where the bells are housed, is made of brick.

This historic church has stood the test of time and is well worth a visit on your tour of Requena. While you're here, explore the town’s incredible heritage, and don’t miss its underground wine cellars and exceptional local wines and cavas.
