Have you heard of fiestas de moros y cristianos, the Moors and Christians Festival, in Albatera? During July, the streets of this part of La Vega Baja in the province of Alicante are flooded with an incredible atmosphere courtesy of the festival celebrating Santiago Apóstol.

The celebrations kick off with the comic parade, the official announcement of the roles and the opening speeches. Throughout the month, the Moors and Christians festivities include parades, entradas, guerrillas and embajadas from both sides. These events fill the streets with colourful and artistic costumes. There are, of course, also plenty of activities for kids and cultural events. The tribute to the patron saint, a floral offering and a solemn procession mark the end of the Moors and Christians Festival in Albatera, which is one of the most important events of the year in this Costa Blanca town.
