Experience all the Easter traditions taking place during Holy Week in Albatera. This is not one to miss.

Every year, Semana Santa de Albatera, Holy Week in Albatera in the province of Alicante, opens its arms to residents and visitors, inviting them to celebrate its traditions during one of the most important events of the year.

The events normally start in the days leading up to Palm Sunday and last the whole week with the 19 brotherhoods carrying beautiful statues through the streets.

The children’s procession, La Esperanza procession on Palm Sunday, the Penitential Stations of the Cross or the Sweets Procession, which takes over the town’s streets on Holy Friday, are some highlights of Albatera’s Holy Week. One of the longest-standing traditions is the Mona de Pascua, a round pasty similar to a brioche decorated with colourful hard-boiled eggs, which is eaten once participants have climbed a mountain. Experience Holy Week in Albatera like a local.
