Step inside the historic walls of Benassal and admire the towers of Garcés, Presó, and Redona, beautifully integrated into the layout of the modern village.

The Presó or Prison Tower is the best-preserved section. Today, it houses an interesting exhibition on archeological remains from the Islamic period, which were found in this part of L'Alt Maestrat. You'll also learn about the bombings of 1938 that greatly affected the village.

Wander around the ancient walls and towers of Benassal and immerse yourself in the village's rich architectural heritage. We suggest visiting the bell tower while you're in the village, as this historic landmark was originally another tower that formed part of the ancient wall.
