The magnificent Castillo del Alcalatén, Alcalatén Castle, in l'Alcora, in Castellón, stands atop an undoubtedly strategic hill in a unique location that offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. Before it lies an entire valley offering spectacular vistas.

Alcalatén Castle, built on a triangular floor plan, is of Islamic origin, originally dating from the 10th century, so its walls have been around for a long time! The path leading up to it is easy to follow and has been improved to make it more walkable.

At Alcalatén Castle, admire its crenellated walls and the two commanding towers that are still standing. You can also see an original aljub or cistern and, on the south side, a Romanesque chapel, the well-fortified El Salvador Chapel. Be sure to include this monument in your plans for l'Alcora!
